Our Stories

Debbie Simister (ACCOR Hospitality)

One of Accor’s primary recruitment and engagement strategy objectives is to attract a range of candidates for employment with our organisation.  We were very keen to try Indigenous Jobs Australia, via My Career, in order to promote our vacancies to this particular talent pool via an on-line medium. We believe the site has been a great way to reach interested candidates and attract them to Accor.  This site has attracted a number of Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander candidates with varying skills, qualifications and experience.  Whilst we do receive a number of applications from candidates that are not from an Indigenous background, the caliber of the Indigenous candidates we get through is very high, and not the level we have attracted in the past via other recruitment sources

Liz Evans (General Manager – Rio Tinto  Recruitment and Talent)

Many of our operations are in rural and remote areas across Australia and the Indigenous Jobs Australia website is one way we promote vacancies in our search for employees. Sourcing Indigenous candidates for our business is a priority for Rio Tinto and we have certainly found the site useful in this respect.  We operate in some very remote locations and employing Indigenous people, particularly those from the local area, creates strong career paths for local people and makes good business sense for us.
